Brady Tabbed as Top 10 Finalist for USA Softball Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. โ UCLA softball senior shortstop Maya Brady was named a 2024 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 Finalist, the organization announced the list Wednesday morning.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which is considered the most prestigious honor in Division I women's collegiate softball, recognizes the outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female players across the country. This marks Brady's second consecutive season being named a Top 10 Finalist for the award. Brady was a Top 3 Finalist as a redshirt junior in 2023.

The Top 10 Finalists will be narrowed three athletes on May 20. The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced prior to the start Women's College World Series.

Two Bruins have taken home the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award a total of three times. Rachel Garcia (2017-21) was honored in back-to-back seasons in 2018 and 2019 and Stacey Nuveman (1997, 1999, 2001-02) won UCLA's first award in 2002.

This season, Brady leads UCLA with a .403 batting average, 58 hits, 26 total bases, 48 runs scored and a .494 on-base percentage. Brady's .799 slugging percentage is tops in the Pac-12.

Brady has climbed up several UCLA career records lists this season. The Thousand Oaks, Calif. native ranks second in program history in home runs (69) and runs batted in (239), third in slugging percentage (.753) and fourth in runs scored (218). Brady is six hits away from cracking UCLA's top 10 in career base knocks.

Additionally, Brady has recorded three two-homer performances this season to improve her career total of multi-homer games to nine (ranks second in UCLA history).
