Women's Soccer
Mallory Swanson (2017) assisted on the game's only goal as the United States defeated Germany, 1-0, in overtime in the semifinals to advance to the gold medal match. Swanson connected with Sophia Smith in the 95th minute to break the scoreless tie, and the U.S. held on throughout the remainder of extra time to secure the win. Swanson played 110 minutes and had two shots, including one on goal. She has totaled three goals and two assists in the Olympic tournament.

The U.S. will play Brazil in the gold medal match on Saturday, Aug. 10. The match will air on USA, Telemundo, Peacock and NBCOlympics.com at 8 a.m. PT. The Americans will be playing for their fifth Olympic gold medal and first since 2012. This will be a rematch of the 2004 and 2008 Olympic gold medal matches, both of which were won by the U.S. in extra time.

Women's Volleyball
USA Women's National Team staff members Karch Kiraly (head coach), Alfee Reft (assistant coach) and Sue Enquist (culture consultant) dominated Poland in a quarterfinal 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-14, 25-20) on Tuesday. The U.S. dominated in kills (44-30) and led in aces (6-3), while staying nearly even (12-10) in blocks with one of the world's top blocking teams.

The U.S. will face world No. 1 Brazil, in Thursday's semifinals. Brazil swept the Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals. The semis will be a replay of the gold medal match in Tokyo 2020.

Artistic Swimming
Daniella Ramirez (2023-pres.) and Team USA shot up the leaderboards after placing second in the Women's Team Free Routine with a score of 360.2688 on Tuesday morning. The result catapulted the U.S. into second place in the overall standings with 643.0255 total points after opening the Olympics with a fourth-place showing in the team technical routine.

Next up, Team USA closes out the team portion of the schedule with the team acrobatic routine, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday, Aug. 7. Medals will be awarded after that round based on total team points over the three scheduled team events.

Table Tennis
UCLA's Rachel Sung (2023-pres.) and Amy Wang (2023-pres.) saw their time at the 2024 Olympics come to a close after Team USA absorbed a 3-2 loss to Germany in the Women's Team Round of 16 on Tuesday. The Bruin duo of Sung and Wang teamed up to play the doubles point for the U.S., and Wang also captured a 3-1 victory (11-9, 11-5, 7-11, 11-6) in singles to deliver a point for Team USA.

Sung was making her Olympics debut in the team round. Wang made her debut during the women's singles portion of the Paris Games, advancing to the round of 32.

Women's Water Polo
Multiple UCLA representatives from the United States and Australian national teams advanced in women's water polo quarterfinal contests at the Olympics on Tuesday. From Team USA, former UCLA head coach Adam Krikorian, along with Rachel Fattal, Maddie Musselman and Tara Prentice, secured a 5-4 quarterfinal victory over Hungary.

Fattal and Prentice each scored one goal, while Musselman had three shot attempts in just over 30 minutes for Team USA. In a back-and-forth contest, Team USA led Hungary by a 3-2 margin at halftime. With the game tied at 4-4 through three quarters, Fattal converted for the United States on a 6-on-5 opportunity with 3:02 left in regulation.

Sienna Green (2023-present) and Bronte Halligan (2017-19) both played roles in Australia's 9-6 quarterfinal win versus Greece on Tuesday. Halligan scored two goals on four attempts in all 32 minutes. Green had three shot attempts through 14 minutes.

Australia never trailed against Greece, scoring its first goal of the match on a penalty shot with 2:36 to play in the opening period. Halligan's goal at the 5:44 mark in the second quarter put Australia ahead, 3-1. Midway through the final quarter, Halligan scored her second goal to help Australia secure a 7-4 cushion.

Two women's water polo semifinal contests, set for this Thursday, will feature the Netherlands versus Spain (5:35 a.m. PT) and Australia versus the United States (10:35 a.m. PT).

Men's Basketball
Former UCLA standout Jrue Holiday (2009) scored nine points and totaled three assists and two blocks as the U.S. men's basketball team cruised past Brazil, 122-87, in a quarterfinal contest on Tuesday evening in Paris. Holiday shot 4-for-7 from the field in just under 17 minutes. Team USA has advanced to the semifinal round and will face Serbia on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 12 p.m. PT (9 p.m. local time in Paris).

In Tuesday's win over Brazil, the U.S. squad led from start to finish, leading by double digits less than six minute into the contest. Team USA claimed a 63-36 halftime cushion and never saw its advantage fall to fewer than 25 points midway through the fourth quarter. Serbia defeated Australia in a quarterfinal match, 95-90, to advance into the semifinals on Thursday. Prior to this Thursday's USA-Serbia contest, France will face Germany in the opening semifinal game.
