February 04, 2025 | Softball
LOS ANGELES – Utility Megan Grant, pitcher Taylor Tinsley and infielder Jordan Woolery on the No. 5-ranked UCLA softball team were named to the 2025 Big Ten Players to Watch List, it was announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
All 17 Big Ten softball programs had three players selected to the Watch List.
Grant, Tinsley and Woolery were also named to the 53-player 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List earlier this month on Jan. 22.
Grant, entering her junior season at UCLA, led all 2025 returners with a .335 batting average (56-for-167), 20 extra-base hits and 41 runs batted in last season. The San Bruno, Calif. native enjoyed a stellar freshman season in 2023, being named an NFCA Second Team All-American and listed to the NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 10 List. In her career, Grant owns a .334 average (114-for-341) with 23 home runs and 99 RBI.
Tinsley established herself as one of the nation's top pitchers last season, leading the Bruins' pitching staff with a 1.90 earned run average and 166 strikeouts. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native recorded an 18-8 record and pitched 147.1 total innings in 2024. Tinsley was the winning pitcher in both of UCLA's NCAA Regional and Super Regional Finals last season, helping the Bruins' punch their ticket to a 32nd Women's College World Series. Tinsley was named to the All-Pac-12 and NFCA All-West Region First Teams in 2024.
Woolery is coming off a 2024 campaign in which she hit for a .314 average (50-for-159) and belted 10 home runs. Both Grant and Woolery gained valuable postseason experience last season, each belting their first-career home runs at the Women's College World Series. Woolery's best moment of 2024 came in the bottom of the sixth inning in game one at the WCWS when she hit a go-ahead, three-run homer to secure a 4-1 win against Alabama. Woolery was named an NFCA Third Team All-American and selected to the NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 10 List in her first year with the program in 2023.
The Bruins open the 2025 season this Thursday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. (PT) at Easton Stadium versus Cal State Fullerton. Single-game tickets are available for purchase at this link HERE.
