No. 1 UCLA Wins Three on Day One of Death Volley Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La.ย -- No. 1 UCLA (22-1) earned a trio of wins against nationally-ranked teams on Friday at the Death Volley Invitational at LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium. The Bruins opened with a 4-1 win overย No. 7 Florida State (19-5) and then followed that up with a 3-2 win atย No. 11 LSU (16-7) and then ended a busy day with another top 10 win over No. 8 Texas (17-7), 3-1. With a stormfront moving in, the schedule was sped up, forcing the teams to play three times with the evening duals playing to decision, not full result. The Bruins improved to 19-9 against the Seminoles with their sixth consecutive win in the series, improved to 21-2 overall against LSU with their 13th-straight win in the series, and remained undefeated at 2-0 against the Longhorns.
In the first dual against Florida State, the Bruins' court two pair of senior Natalie Myszkowski and graduate Peri Brennanย clinched the dual victory with a 21-17, 21-16 win over FSU's Gella Andrew and Maddie Trusty.
In the second dual against LSU, the court three pair of redshirt sophomores Ensley Alden and Kenzie Browerย clinched the victory, taking down Elle Evers and Camryn Chatellier, 21-17, 21-19.
In the third dual against Texas, the duo of Myszkowski and Brennan again sealed the victory on court two, defeating the Longhorns' Katie Hashman and Emma Grace Robertson, 16-21, 21-18, 15-12.
UP NEXT: The Bruins will complete the Death Volley Invitational in what will sure be a wet and windy day against No. 2 TCU at 6:00 a.m PT/8:00 a.m. CT tomorrow.
