Men's Tennis Posts 4-0 Sweep of Oregon

LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA men's tennis team beat Oregon 4-0 in Big Ten Conference action Saturday afternoon at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The win marked the Bruins' fifth in a row to start league play.
Kaylan Bigun, Giacomo Revelli and clincher Emon van Loben Sels posted straight-set singles victories for UCLA (7-6, 5-0 in Big Ten play), which also claimed the doubles point without dropping a match. The Ducks fell to 9-9 (1-5) with their loss.
The Court 3 doubles combination of van Loben Sels and Gianluca Ballotta won its fourth consecutive match, beating Vlad Breazu and Lachlan Robertson 6-4. Ballotta/van Loben Sels took the first three games, breaking the serve of Breazu/Robertson twice during that stretch. Another 6-4 result came in clinching fashion on Court 2, where Rudy Quan and Aadarsh Tripathi held off Clement Lemire and Paris Pouatcha after jumping out to a 5-2 lead.
UCLA collected four singles first sets, with Giacomo Revelli not surrendering a game on Court 6. His performance against Robertson carried into the second set and ultimately a 6-0, 6-2 victory. The win represented Revelli's third in four tries.
The focus next shifted to the top three courts, where Quan (Court 1), van Loben Sels (Court 2) and Kaylan Bigun (Court 3) all neared positive singles showings of their own. Bigun got off his court first, beating Pouatcha 6-3, 6-3. Bigun has won three straight singles decisions.
With No. 29 Quan one game away from victory, No. 75 van Loben Sels put the finishing touches on his match. Facing off with No. 88 Breazu, van Loben Sels prevailed 6-2, 6-4 for his sixth straight win and third clincher during the stretch. Each of the past two has been on Court 2, also corresponding with his first two career matches at the spot.
