Fisher Named to NFCA Freshman of the Year Top 25 List
April 25, 2025 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. โ Right-handed pitcher Addisen Fisher on the No. 7-ranked UCLA softball team was named to the 2025 NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Top 25 list, it was announced by the organization Friday.
ย
On May 8, the list will be trimmed to the top 10 and the three finalists will be released on May 22. The winner will be revealed on May 27, prior to the start of the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
ย
Fisher is the 10th Bruins' student-athlete to be recognized on the Top 25 in the award's 12-year history (since 2014). UCLA ranks second among NCAA DI programs in terms of all-time representation, trailing only Oklahoma with 11 selections to the Top 25.
ย
Fisher, a native of Bend, Ore., has started her collegiate career with a perfect 14-0 record in addition to posting a 2.39 earned run average over 88.0 innings. Fisher is the only freshman in the nation and one of four NCAA DI pitchers to own a flawless record (min. 10 wins). She is the first UCLA freshman to win 14 or more games before drawing their first loss since Holly Azevedo in 2018 who finished that year with a 15-0 mark.
ย
Fisher is coming off the most impressive weekend of her young career, recording a complete-game shutout victory at then-No. 5 Oregon in front of a sold-out crowd of 2,517 fans at Jane Sanders Stadium on April 19. The Bend High School product was masterful in her return to her home state with three strikeouts and allowing only three hits and one walk. Fisher threw 60 of her 86 pitches for strikes for a 72.3 percent strike rate, marking her best in a start in a season.
