UCLA enters the postseason after a runner-up finish in the Big Ten Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 10, falling to Michigan 2-0 in the title game. The Bruins' season was highlighted by nine top-25 wins. Seven of those wins came in the first month of the season, which was the most in the country in that span.
ย
The Bruins boasted one of the most successful offensive seasons in recent memory. Throughout the year, UCLA ranked top 15 nationally in batting average (.342), on-base percentage (.440), slugging (.593), home runs (86), runs per game (7.33) and run differential (+285). The Bruins also set the program record for mercy-rule wins in a season with 25.
ย
UCLA is led by USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 25 Finalists Megan Grant and Jordan Woolery. The two Bay Area natives combined for one of the most impressive campaigns by a UCLA duo in program history. Together, Grant and Woolery combine for 148 runs batted in, which ranks third all-time by a UCLA duo. Additionally, Grant and Woolery are also just the second Bruins duo to each homer at least 20 times in a single season.
ย
Joining Grant and Woolery on the All-Big Ten First Team were senior utility Savannah Pola and junior right-handed pitcher Taylor Tinsley. Pola is enjoying career bests across the board in her final year in Westwood. The Santa Ana, Calif. product leads the team with a .439 batting average (86-for-196), 86 base hits and 66 runs scored while ranking third with 47 runs batted in. Pola's 86 knocks are seventh-most in UCLA single-season history.
