May 08, 2025 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Right-handed pitcher Addisen Fisher on the No. 9-ranked UCLA softball team was named to the 2025 NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Top 10 list, it was announced by the organization Thursday.
On May 22, the list will be trimmed to the Top 3 finalists. The winner will be revealed on May 27, prior to the start of the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City. Fisher is the 10th Bruins' student-athlete to be recognized on the Top 25 in the award's 12-year history (since 2014) and the eight UCLA player to make the Top 10.
Fisher, a native of Bend, Ore., owns a 16-1 record with a 2.43 earned run average and 93 strikeouts over 103.2 innings. Fisher opened her career with a 16-0 record before drawing her first loss, tying Amanda Freed (1999) for the best start by a Bruins' freshman in program history.
Fisher's most impressive outing this season came last month on the road at No. 5 Oregon on April 19. In front of a sold-young crowd of 2,517 fans at Jane Sanders Stadium, the Bend High School product recorded a complete-game shutout in her return to her home state with three strikeouts and allowing only three hits and one walk. Fisher threw 60 of her 86 pitches for strikes for a 72.3 percent strike rate, marking her best in a start in a season.
