Sienna Betts, USA Advance to Elimination Rounds of U19 Women’s World Cup

LOS ANGELES – Incoming freshman Sienna Betts and USA Basketball advance to the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Brno, Czechia, after dominating the group phase.
The Bruin and US junior national team went 3-0 in group play, toppling South Korea, Hungary and Israel during the first phase of the tournament. USA won by an average of 61.7 points per game, scoring 100+ in two of the three contests. Betts and the American squad will take on China on Wednesday, July 16, at 5:30 a.m. as the elimination rounds begin in Brno. The international competition will conclude on Sunday, July 20.

BETTS ON IT
The 6-foot-4 forward is Team USA's second-leading scorer at 17.3 points per game through the first three wins. She exploded for 25 points (11-12 FG) in just 18 minutes in the tournament opener against South Korea - Betts racked up six rebounds, four assists and two blocks in USA's 81-point blowout. Hungary provided some defensive challenges for the forward, holding Betts to 13 points in the second game of the U19 competition, but she answered with a strong defensive effort. Betts finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and five blocks against the Hungarians. Betts cruised to a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double to close out the group phase against Israel; she shot 6-for-9 from the floor and boasts a .656 field goal percentage in the tournament.
Betts ranks seventh in the tournament in points per game (17.3 PPG), second in field goal percentage (.656 FG%), third in rebounds (10.3 RPG) and third in blocks (2.7 BPG) heading into the Round of 16.
