Seven Bruins to Meet in Inaugural AUSL Championship Series

LOS ANGELES โ Seven UCLA softball alumnae will meet in the first-ever Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) Championship Series when the Talons and Bandits meet in a best-of-three set from July 26-28 at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Five Bruins will be suiting up in uniforms for the historic series: Maya Brady, Megan Faraimo and Sharlize Palacios for the Talons and Bubba Nickles-Camarena and Delanie Wisz for the Bandits. Meanwhile, UCLA softball legends Lisa Fernandez, general manager of the Talons, and Stacey Nuveman-Deniz, head coach of the Bandits, will be going head-to-head with their respective ballclubs.

Two members of the current UCLA softball staff also occupy leadership positions for the Talons. UCLA Director of Softball Administration Kirk Walker and UCLA Director of Player Development & Data Analytics Will Oldham both serve as assistants on the Talons' staff.

UCLA's total representation in the AUSL leads all college programs.

Earlier this week, two-time Pac-12 Player of the Year and three-time NFCA First Team All-American Maya Brady made her AUSL debut against the Blaze after being reinstated from the injured list. Brady electrified in her first game as a Talon on Wednesday, July 16 in Salt Lake City, Utah, going 2-for-2 and reaching base in all three plate appearances while scoring a run and stealing a base. On Thursday, Brady went 3-for-3 with her first AUSL home run and two RBIs.

Rachel Garcia also competed in the inaugural AUSL season as the ace for the Volts. Harcia leads the entire AUSL in innings pitched (49.2) and strikeouts (49) as of July. 18.

UCLA softball letterwinner Jadelyn Allchin (2024) saw action for the Talons in the regular season and made significant contributions before being reassigned to the reserve pool.
