SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The UCLA men’s golf team opened its fall season on Saturday, shooting 22-over 598 through the tournament’s opening two rounds.

UCLA finished 13-over par (301) in the first round on Saturday morning and improved upon its cumulative score in the second round. The Bruins shot 9-over par (297) in the second round.

Headed into this Sunday’s third and final round at Sahalee Country Club, the Bruins are currently in seventh place out of 12 teams.

Oklahoma State (even par, 576) moves into the final day of action atop the team leaderboard, 11 strokes ahead of second place Illinois (11-over, 587). Florida, Duke and North Carolina round out the top five teams through the tournament’s first two rounds.

UCLA senior Alex PApayoanou had the strongest performance for the Bruins on Saturday. He shot 1-over 73 in the opening round and even par (72) in the second round, compiling a two-round score of 1-over 143 (tied for seventh place).

Sophomore Tyler Loree finished the day 5-over 149, with round scores of 73 and 76.

The Bruins’ other three competitors in the team scoring included freshman Matthew Hull (8-over 152), sophomore Josh Kim (9-over 153) and junior Baylor Larrabee (12-over 156).

UCLA sophomore Lucas Rizo-Patron shot 9-over 153, competing as an individual.

Sunday’s third round will begin just after 7:20 a.m., with the Bruins set to open at approximately 7:30 a.m.
