Chiles, Sullivan Claim Big Ten Weekly Awards
March 17, 2026 | Gymnastics
Chiles won the all-around for the ninth consecutive week and 10th time this season, scoring 39.800 to help No. 5 UCLA defeat No. 12 Utah, 197.850-197.400. It was UCLA's ninth consecutive meet victory and its first over Utah in a dual meet since 2019. Chiles scored 9.950 on all four events, good for first-place on beam and floor and second-place on vault and bars. Her vault score helped the Bruins record a season-high total of 49.475, and her marks on all four events helped propel UCLA to its second-highest team score of the year. Chiles has 37 victories in 11 meets, including nine on floor and five on beam. She continues to lead the nation with a 39.705 season average in the all-around and is ranked No. 1 on floor for the fifth-straight week. She is also Top 3 in the all-around (No. 2), vault (No. 3) and bars (No. 3). Every routine she has performed this season has scored 9.800 or higher. Twenty-two have scored 9.95 or higher, and 34 of her 44 routines have scored 9.900 or higher. Chiles will finish with 16 career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors in two seasons, second-most in Big Ten history, and a school-record 21 awards over two conferences.
Sullivan's event specialist award is the first of her career and marks just the sixth time ever that a freshman has earned this award. She won vault with a near-perfect 9.975 and earned third-place finishes on bars and floor with 9.900s in the Bruins' win over Utah. Sullivan stuck her Yurchenko 1.5 to claim her first career vault win and her first-ever perfect score by a judge. Her score elevated the Bruins to a season-high 49.475 on the event and gave UCLA an early lead it would not relinquish. Sullivan now has four event victories on the year, as well as 15 Top 3 finishes. She is averaging over 9.850 on all three of her events - 9.857 on vault, 9.864 on bars and 9.880 on floor.
