Similar to Friday, doubles play came down to the wire, as a quick 6-3 win by UCLA at Court 1 was immediately followed by a 6-4 victory for Nebraska at Court 2. That turned all attention to Court 3, where UCLA's Rudy Quan and Bengt Reinhard were tied 5-5 with Nebraska's Jeri Lassila and Joan Torres Espinosa. That match would go to a tiebreaker, with the Bruins squeaking out a 7-4 win to secure the doubles point for UCLA.
Already with a 1-0 advantage, the Bruins rolled in singles play. Quan, ranked No. 119 nationally in singles, was first off at Court 1, dispatching of 81st-ranked Nikolay Sysoev, 6-2, 6-1. Another straight-set victory for the Bruins would soon follow, as Cassius Chinlundย lost just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Henry Lamchinniah on Court 5.
Within seconds of Chinlund's win, Aadarsh Tripathi would seal the deal for the Bruins at Court 4, posting a 6-3, 6-2 win over Torres Espinosa..
UCLA's final two points came from straight-set victories from Andy Nguyen (Court 3) and Emon van Loben Sels (Court 2). Reinhard was up a set at Court 6 when his match was suspended.Next up for the Bruins are a pair of road matches against Michigan and Michigan State next week. UCLA's next home match will be Friday, April 3 against the No. 1 team in the country Ohio State.
