The Bruins (37-5, 16-2 Big Ten) outscored the Fighting Illini (11-31, 2-12) 45-1 over the three-game set. UCLA recorded its 22nd run-rule victory of the season and eclipsed 15 runs for the 12th time.

Redshirt freshman Aleena Garcia and sophomore Sofia Mujica each hit two home runs. Garcia, who has homered in four straight games, recorded the first multi-homer game of her career, while Mujica notched her third. UCLA hit six home runs, bringing its series total to 18.

Each of Garcia's home runs was a three-run shot, giving her a career-high six RBIs. Mujica finished 3 for 4 with a career-high three hits.
Seven Bruins recorded multiple hits, including pinch hitters Rylee Pinedo and Soo-Jin Berry. Pinedo tallied her first career multi-hit game, extra-base hit and second RBI.FIRST CAREER MULTI-HR GAME FOR ALEENA GARCIA!

UCLA scored seven runs in both the first and fourth innings and added four more in the fifth. The Bruins loaded the bases with no outs in the first, and sophomore Kaniya Bragg delivered a two-run single up the middle. One batter later, Garcia hit a three-run homer to extend the lead to 5-0. Mujica and Jolyna Lamar followed with back-to-back home runs to cap the inning.

UCLA hit back-to-back home runs three times in the series and has done so 13 times this season. The Bruins increased their program-record home run total to 134 through 42 games, averaging 3.19 per game.

Sophomore Brynne Nally turned in her best outing of the season, tossing her first career complete-game shutout. She allowed five hits, walked one and struck out one.

Freshman Jolyna Lamar led off the fourth with a double to left-center and later scored on a throwing error by Illinois' third baseman. Megan Grant added a two-run homer โ her 29th of the season โ moving within two of tying Stacey Nuveman's program record of 31. Garcia added her second three-run homer of the game, and Berry drove in another run with a single up the middle.

Phillips, who had a pinch-hit infield single Saturday, added a hit and a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Pinedo contributed a bloop RBI double to left, and Mujica capped the scoring with a two-run homer.
