What was your most memorable moment of the 1999-2000 school year?
Beating Stanford in our dual meet.
Looking back, how would you describe your freshman year?
Experiencing and learning from those experiences would describe a lot of my freshman year. Being away from home and on my own for the first time was the highlight of my freshman year.
Do you have any pre-meet rituals or superstitions?
If I have a good race I will try to do everything I did before that race the same way for the next race. I also don't like anyone touching my goggles, I am always scared they might fall off.
If you could play any other sport at UCLA what would it be and why?
I would want to play a team sport like basketball or soccer. These sports are appealing because there is not as much pressure on the individual and you are not anywhere near the water.
What is your favorite food?
Almost any food is a favorite food. I love Ben and Jerry's Phish food ice cream and any kind of fruit.
Best movie you have seen lately?
Gladiator was a good movie. I liked all of the action and drama.
TV show you can?t miss?
I definitely can't miss the X-Files. I have seen every episode at least twice.
What type of music do you listen to?
Alternative, Techno, and Top 40 (almost everything besides country).
Favorite place you have visited? Place you would most want to visit?
The Cayman Islands is my favorite place I have been to so far. I would like to visit any place in Europe.
What do you like to do when you?re not swimming?
Hang out with friends, go to the movies, read, and eat.
Favorite sport to watch?
Swimming, because I can relate to it and I have respect for the athletes.
Describe the best event (i.e. sporting event, concert) you?ve ever been to.
The USC /UCLA football game was fun to watch because of the intense rivalry between the two schools.
What do you see yourself doing in the future?
Having a career and eventually a family. I would like to be involved in some way with politics.
What is your favorite event and why?
The 100-meter freestyle is my favorite event, because there is only one flip turn and it is over fast.
What is the best lesson you have learned so far in college?
To be myself and be open -minded.
Why did you decide to attend UCLA?
I decided to attend UCLA because it offered everything that I was looking for in a perfect college for me. The academic and athletic excellence and the student diversity were the most appealing aspects of UCLA.
What is your favorite hangout?
Starbucks or the Coffee Bean (any place that has coffee).
