At Big Tens, was 11th in the discus (53.93m / 176-11) and 18th in the hammer (61.46m / 201-8), setting a PR in the latter ... Finished third in both the discus (53.47m / 175-5) and hammer (60.67m / 199-0) to help the Bruins to a dual-meet win over USC on May 4 ... Runner-up in the discus (52.93m / 173-8) at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite on April 5 ... Competed in 12 meets overall during the course of the year, eight during outdoor season and four during indoor ... Hit a PR in the discus (56.86m / 16-6) at the Beach Opener on March 8 ... Born in Walnut Creek, Calif., to parents Stephen and Kirsten โฆ Has three older siblings: Justin (UCLA track & field class of 2019), John and Jillian, who currently competes for the Bruins โฆ Decided to attend UCLA because โI was excited to join my sister on the track team here, and be able to compete with the best athletes while also getting the best education" โฆ Describes his greatest pre-UCLA athletic thrill as winning the state championship in high jump, saying it was โpretty electric,โ as well as coming in fourth in the discus throw at Nike nationals โฆ Lists Dennis Rodman as a famous athlete he admires โฆ Outside of track & field, interested in playing cards, basketball, watching movies and going to the beach.
