With 14 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate level under her belt, Jennifer DeRego enters her first season with the Bruins as an assistant coach for the track and field and cross country squads.

Most recently, she served as the head cross country and track and field coach for Heritage High School in Brentwood, Calif. During her time at the helm, she led Heritage to five cross country league championship titles and sent the schoolโ€™s first ever runners to the state meet. Her track coaching prowess is just as solid as she has led seven boys teams to league titles and coached the 2017 California State Champion in the boys 800m.

DeRegoโ€™s collegiate coaching experience include stints as an assistant coach at the United States Military Academy in West Point in 2011, as well as a three-year stop at her alma mater, Cal Poly, from 2007-2009.

DeRego graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2002. There, she was a member of back-to-back Big West Conference championship teams in cross country in 2000-2001. On the track, she was the Big West 10k champion and school record holder in the event at the time. Following her collegiate career, she went on to become a two-time qualifier at the Olympic Trials Marathon in 2004 and 2008. She earned her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly in 2009.
