    1984
Ducky Drake entered UCLA as a student in 1923 and went on to serve his alma mater as an assistant coach, head track coach and head athletic trainer for all sports. But beyond that, he was a UCLA institution, and a father figure to hundreds of student-athletes even after he retired in 1972 following 30 years as a trainer.

Drake graduated in 1927 and was named assistant track coach in 1929. He also was the freshman track coach and cross-country coach before getting the head trainer's job in 1942. He was the head track coach from 1947-1964, and led the Bruins to their first NCAA title in 1956. He was named to the Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 1964, and in 1973, UCLA's track stadium was renamed Drake Stadium.

Drake, who died at 85 in 1988, was a charter member of the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.
