LOS ANGELES - The No. 17 UCLA Bruins lost to cross-town rival No. 5 USC 109-191 in the last dual meet of the season. Despite the loss, the Bruins had one of their best performances all season. Freshman Katie Younglove automatically qualified for NCAAs in the 200 fly and recorded the third fastest time ( 1:59.82) in school history in the 200 fly. Junior All-American Keiko Price finished first in the 50 and 100 free and recorded a season top-time in the 100 free (49.82). The Bruin 200 free relay team of Angela Belloni, Erin Thomas, Keiko Price and Katie Ryan claimed first with a time of 1:33.89. Fifteen swimmers posted season top-times and five swimmers met NCAA consideration standards.

The UCLA diving team went 3-4-6 on the one-meter board and 2-3-4 on the three-meter board. Freshmen Liz Ackerman (239.47) and Becky Brackett (231.22) and sophomore Ami Achrekar (218.31) recorded season-high scores on the one-meter board.

UCLA's record now stands at 6-4-1 and 1-4-1 in Pac-10 action. UCLA travels to Federal Way, WA on Feb. 25-27 to compete in the 1999 Pac-10 Championships.
