Brascia, Cheng Qualify for NCAAs at NCAA Zone E Diving Championships

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. โ The UCLA diving team wrapped up competition at the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships on Wednesday afternoon. In total, the Bruins earned four NCAA berths as Molly Brascia qualified on both 1m and 3m, while Eden Cheng earned an NCAA qualifying spot on both the 3m and platform.
On the first day of competition, the Bruins took part in the 1m springboard event. UCLA had Brascia involved in both qualifying and finals.
The junior earned a score of 284.05 in prelims to earn the top spot in the finals. In the finals session she finished with a total score of 557.70 to take third overall, clinching her first ever spot at the NCAA Championships next week.
AS for the second day of competition, the Bruins took part in the 3m competition as Brascia and Cheng both took part in the action.
In the prelims session, both Brascia and Cheng earned spots in the final. Brascia, coming off a strong showing in the 1m competition, finished prelims in fifth with a score of 298.60, while Cheng finished in sixth in prelims with 294.70.
In the following finals session, Brascia qualified for her second event at next weeks NCAAs, scoring 585.10 points to finish sixth overall. Cheng finished in ninth with 571.35 points.
Cheng and Laura Fisher took part in the final day of competition on Wednesday, in the platform discipline. Both Cheng and Fisher earned spots in the finals with Cheng scoring 274.70 points in prelims to claim second overall, and Fisher earned a spot in finals by finishing in 13th, with 228.45 points. ย
Later in the day during the finals session, Cheng earned a spot in her fourth consecutive NCAA Championships. The senior, who won the event at last years' zones, finished second in 2026 with a score of 557.80. Fisher took 17th overall with a total score of 432.25.
Up Next: UCLA has qualified 10 individuals for next week's NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. The competition is slated from March 18-21.
