UCLA Finishes 20th at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA โ The UCLA swimming and diving program placed 20th overall at the NCAA Championships and earned its highest finish at the NCAA Championships since the 2018-19 season. The Bruins had five All-American honorees over the four-day meet.
UCLA, in its second season as a member of the Big Ten Conference, placed 20th overall at the NCAA Championships, its highest finish under head coach Jordan Cordry.
Seniors Rosie Murphy and Eden Cheng both earned All-American honors, while the Bruins' 200 medley relay squad also earned All-American acclaim.
The Bruins opened the championships with an NCAA All-American honorable mention finish on night one in the 200 medley relay. The group of Sarah Bennetts, Jada Duncan, Anna Wetteland, and Claudia Yovanovich combined to finish in 15th overall, clinching All-American honors for the first time since 2015 in the event.
As for Thursday, Murphy led the Bruins with her first NCAA All-American honors in her first event of the championships, the 400 IM. The senior earned a spot in the finals session with a fifth-place finish in prelims, in a new school-record time of 4:02.22. She followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the finals session to earn her first All-American honors in 4:03.55.
Following up the strong finish on Thursday, UCLA earned three more All-American honors on Saturday, the final day of competition.
Murphy earned an NCAA All-American honorable mention finish in the 200 back on Saturday. The senior touched the wall in 1:51.40 to take 12th overall. Her time was also a new school record in the event, her second school record of the championships.
Cheng, who was competing in her fourth NCAA Championships, earned her fourth consecutive All-American honorable mention honors on platform. The London, England native took 10th overall in the competition, finishing with a score of 291.40.
Murphy earned her second overall All-American honors of the meet in the 200 IM on the final night of the NCAA Championships, hosted by Georgia Tech. After qualifying seventh overall in prelims she took eighth in the finals session, touching the wall in 1:54.18 to earn her second All-American honors of the meet.
