No. 22 Bruins Finish Seventh at Big Ten Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. โ The No. 22-ranked UCLA Swimming and Diving program finished in seventh place at the Big Ten Championships held on the campus of the University of Minnesota. ย
UCLA finished the 2026 Big Ten Championships in seventh overall with 605.5 points. Michigan won the team title with 1,243 points, while Indiana took second place with 1,084 points, and Ohio State finished third with 1,066 points.
Two Bruins earned All-Championship team honors. After her three-medal performance, Senior Rosie Murphy was named to the second team All-Big Ten team, while freshman Jada Duncan earned a spot on the all-Freshman team.
Over the four-day event, the Bruins racked up four school records. Rosie Murphy set two school records, in the 200 IM and 200 Back, and two relays, the 400 free relay and the 200 free relay set school records.
Day Four Recap
Rosie Murphy set multiple school records to lead the Bruins on day four. The senior, who took home third place in the 400 IM on Thursday, did one better in the 200 IM on Saturday. She finished in second place in 1:54.04, lowering her own school record, which she originally set in prelims, in the process.
In the B final in the 100 free, two Bruins took part. Freshman Jada Duncan finished 11th overall and third in the B final in 48.41, while sophomore Claudia Yovanovich took 15th overall in 48.91. Gizem Guvenc also took 23rd overall and took part in the C final, finishing in 49.35.
Murphy continued her strong Big Ten Championships with another second-place finish, this time in the 200 backstroke. She earned her third medal of the championships by touching the wall in 1:51.52.
Diver Eden Cheng earned UCLA's first top-3 finish in a dive event at the Big Ten Championships. The senior earned third place in the platform event on Saturday. She took the bronze, and UCLA's fourth individual medal of the Championships with a score of 323.65.
The quartet of Claudia Yovanovich, Alexis Schaffer, Anna Wetteland, and Jada Duncan took fourth place in the 400 free relay. The group combined to finish in 3:13.02 to set a new school record.
Day Three Recap
In the finals session, Claudia Yovanovich earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 back, touching the wall in 51.37, marking her highest individual finish at a Big Ten Championships event to date. Fay Lustria, who took part in the 'B' final last year, qualified for the 'A' final in 2026 and finished in seventh overall in 51.54.
As for the 200 breast, Sarah Bennetts continued her strong weekend with another top-8 individual effort. The junior touched the wall in 2:10.47 to take seventh overall in the discipline.
In the final individual event of the night, Duncan finished 5th overall in the 50 free, touching the wall in 21.85.
The Bruins wrapped up the night with another school record in the 400 medley relay. The group of Duncan, Yovanovich Bennetts, and Anna Wetteland combined to set a school record in 3:29.97, and finished in fourth overall in the event.ย

As for the 200 breast prelims action, Sarah Bennetts earned a second individual A final of the meet when she qualified fourth. The junior finished prelims in fourth in 2:09.86.
Two Bruins qualified for the finals session in the 500 free. Seniors Ashley Kolessar and Katrina Bellio both earned spots in the 'C' final by taking 20th and 21st, respectively. Kolessar touched the wall in 4:49.30, while Bellio finished in 4:49.59.

As for the relay event of the night, UCLA's 200 medley relay crew of Alexis Schaffer, Anna Wetteland, Claudia Yovanovich, and Jada Duncan set a new school record of 1:28.07 to place fifth in the event, and securing an NCAA'A' cut.
Jada Duncan and Sarah Bennetts also finished top-8 in their events. Duncan took sixth in the 100 butterfly, while Bennetts finished fifth in the 100 breast.
Molly Brascia took 11th in the 1-meter competition for the dive squad, totaling a finals score of 281.55. Nikoline Biltoft-Jensen finished second in the 'C' final of the 100 breast, to take 18th overall, while Fay Lustria finished in 13th in the 100 fly.
