Men's Golfers Tied for Eighth After Second Round at PING Tourney

The UCLA men's golf team, ranked 19th in the latest MasterCard poll, remained in a tie for eighth place after the second round of play Tuesday at The Raven Golf Club in Tucson, AZ.

Host and 24th ranked Arizona took the lead by posting a second round team score of even par 284 for a 36-hole score of 562, one shot better than second place USC. New Mexico is in third place at 574, followed by Arizona State at 577, Stanford at 579 and California at 580. San Diego State is seventh at 582, followed by the Bruins and the University of Washington at 583.

Arizona freshman Ricky Barnes increased his lead to two shots, carding a three-under par 68 in the second round for a two-round total of 133. He is being pursued by USC's Nick Webb, who shot a 70 in the second round and has a score of 135. UCLA's Parker McLachlin fired a two-under par 69 and is tied for third place with New Mexico's Will Collins at 139.

Other UCLA scores are as follows: senior Branson DiTullio is tied for 34th at 141 (73-74), junior Jeff McGraw is tied for 40th at 148 (72-76), junior Michael Vera is tied for 48th at 149 (73-76) and junior Steve Wagner is 98th at 158 (78-80).

Final round action will be completed today.
