Bruins Climb to Eighth Place Finish at Northwest Classic

The UCLA men's golf team finished eighth in the Northwest Classic, hosted by Oregon State at Trysting Tree Country Club in Corvallis, OR.
The Bruins climbed five spots from the start of the day after posting a final round team score of 279, one-under par. Their final three-round total of 856 trailed seventh place Oregon State by three shots.
Freshman Steve Conway was the Bruins top finisher, placing in a tie for 11th place after posting a collegiate career best score of 64, six-under par, in the final round.
The University of Nevada took first place honors with a 54-hole team total of 834, six-under par. BYU took second place at 837, followed by third place Long Beach State at 841. USC was fourth at 845, followed by Oregon at 847 and Pepperdine at 848.
After Conway, sophomore Travis Johnson finished in a tie for 25th at 213, three-over par, followed by freshman John Merrick who tied for 33rd at 215. Freshman Roy Moon posted a final round 71 and tied for 71st at 223 and sophomore J.T. Kohut tied for 74th at 224 with a final round 72.
