
Bruin Women's Volleyball Downs Oregon in Three Games

WESTWOOD - The fifth-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team defeated Oregon in three games on Friday night in Pauley Pavilion, with game scores of 15-6, 15-6, 15-1. With the win, UCLA improves to 10-4 overall, 5-1 Pac-10, while Oregon falls to 7-5, 0-4 Pac-10. In the match, UCLA junior outside hitter Ashley Bowles recorded her 1,000th career kill, becoming the 18th player in UCLA women's volleyball history to reach that milestone.
UCLA cruised to big early leads in all three games, going up 11-0 in the first game, 6-0 in the second game and holding Oregon to just one point during the third and final game of the match.
Three Bruins finished in double-figure kills, led by Kristee Porter with 13. Lauren Fendrick and Elisabeth Bachman joined Porter in double figures with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Three Bruins checked in with a match-high seven digs, including Porter, Fendrick and senior Michelle Quon. Oregon was held to a .041 team attack percentage, and was out-blocked by an 11-4 margin.
UCLA returns to action next Friday, Oct. 6, with a 6 p.m. match at USC. The match will be broadcast live on the internet with Lou Riggs and Paul Nihipali calling the action.
