Women's Golfers 5th After Second Round at New Mexico State

The UCLA women's golf team is fifth after the second round at the New Mexico State Invitational, hosted by NMSU at its Championship Course in Las Cruces, NM.

The Bruins posted their second straight team score of 299, 11-over par, and trail fourth place Oklahoma by eight shots. Arizona State leads the tournament at 579, three-over par, followed by Baylor at 583 and New Mexico State at 588.

Individually, the Bruins' Melissa Martin posted a second round score of 71 and is eighth at 147, three-over par. Sophomore Charlotte Mayorkas is tied for ninth at 148 after carding a 77, followed by senior Alicia Um, who is tied for 21st at 151 after shooting a 75. Sophomore Gina Umeck and freshman Yvonne Choe are tied for 36th at 154. Sophomore Kristin Thompson, playing as an individual, is also tied for 36th at 154.

Arizona State's Jimin Kang leads the field at six-under par 138, followed by Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum and Baylor's Nicole Johnson at two-under 142.

The final round continues Wednesday.
