LOS ANGELES - No. 2 Arizona pounded out a 4-0 victory against top-ranked UCLA on Saturday afternoon at Easton Stadium on a day when the first pitch was delayed by one hour because of overnight rain. With the win, the Wildcats improve to 39-3 (3-1 Pac-10), while UCLA falls to 39-3 (2-3 Pac-10).

The Wildcats scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning, three of them on one swing of the bat, as Mackenzie Vandergeest hit a three run home run over the right field fence before the Bruins could record thier first out of the inning.

UCLA had threatened in the bottom of the third inning, as centerfielder Stephanie Ramos led off with a single up the middle, the Bruins first hit of the day. After two unsuccessful sacrifice attempts, Amanda Freed roped a ball into left centerfield, but Ramos was called out for leaving first base before the ball had been pitched.

The Bruins advanced just one runner past first base on the day, as Lupe Brambila reached on an error in the bottom of the sixth inning, stole second and went to third on a passed ball. She was unable to score, however, as Wildcat pitcher Jennie Finch closed out the inning with two of her 11 strikeouts on the day.

UCLA closes out its Pac-10 weekend on Sunday afternoon with a 1 pm first pitch against Arizona at Easton Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on www.uclabruins.com with Lou Riggs and Nicole Odom calling the action.
