No. 1 UCLA Gymnasts Upset At Oregon State, 195.75-195.475

Corvallis, OR - The top-ranked UCLA gymnastics team let a .65 lead heading into the final rotation slip away and lost a 195.75-195.475 decision at 13th-ranked Oregon State. The Bruins scored just a 48.1 on what had been their top event this season, the balance beam, while Oregon State surged ahead with a 49.025 on the floor exercise.
Freshman Kate Richardson won the all-around, scoring a 39.525, and also took first place on beam with a 9.95 and floor with a 9.9. Junior Jeanette Antolin placed second all-around with a career-high 39.425. Antolin also tied for first on vault with teammate Onnie Willis with a score of 9.9. Junior Jamie Dantzscher, the defending NCAA all-around champion, competed on just one event and placed first on the uneven bars with a 9.9.
UCLA had been leading the meet from the beginning, scoring a 49.1 on bars in rotation one to Oregon State's 48.725 on vault. Freshman Holly Murdock made a successful collegiate debut on bars, scoring a 9.775 in the leadoff position. Antolin and Richardson added third-place scores of 9.825, and Dantzscher closed with her 9.9.
The Bruins put a little more distance between the two teams after a 49.2 on vault. Antolin and Willis earned 9.9s, and Richardson recorded a 9.85 to place third. Oregon State, meanwhile, scored a 49.0 on bars.
UCLA's floor score of 49.075 in rotation three included Richardson's winning 9.9 routine and Antolin's season-high 9.875, Tousek's 9.85 and redshirt freshman Christie Tedmon's career-best 9.7.
The Bruins were competing without head coach Valorie Kondos Field, who was absent while attending to personal matters.
