
UCLA Leads Spartan Invitational by Nine Shots

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team owns a nine-shot lead after 36 holes in the Spartan Invitational, hosted by San Jose State at the Corral de Tierra Golf Course in Salinas.
The Bruins posted a school record score of 279 (-9) in the second round Tuesday to separate themselves from the field. UCLA's 36-hole total of 573 is three-under par and leads second place Cal by nine shots. Nevada Las Vegas is third at 588, followed by Washington at 593 and Stanford at 601.
UCLA junior All-American Charlotte Mayorkas is atop the leaderboard at five-under par 139 after firing a five-under par 67 in the second round. Teammates Krystal Shearer and Susie Mathews are tied for third place at 143 (-1). Shearer posted rounds of 74-69 and Mathews carded rounds of 71-72. Freshman Hannah Jun posted rounds of 77-71--148 and is tied for 12th. Senior Bridget Dwyer is tied for 18th after rounds of 78-72--150.
Final round action continues Wednesday.
