Bruins Extend Their Lead to Nine Shots

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team extended its lead to nine shots entering the final round of the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championships, hosted by Saticoy Country Club in Somis, CA.

The Bruins posted the day's low round of 297, nine-over par, and own a 36-hole score of 605. USC is second with a score of 614, followed by California and Arizona in a third place tie at 615. In fifth place is Washington at 619, followed by Arizona State at 622 and Stanford at 623. Oregon is eighth at 629; Washington State is ninth at 649 and Oregon State is 10th with a score of 666.

UCLA freshman Hannah Jun set a course record by firing a two-under par 70 for a two-day total of 145, one-over par. Jun sank a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to cap an inward nine of 34. Junior Charlotte Mayorkas posted a one-under par round of 71 Tuesday and is tied with Jun at 145. Sophomore Susie Mathews posted a second-round score of 76 and is tied for 14th at 156. Seniors Krystal Shearer and Gina Umeck are tied for 27th at 160. Senior Bridget Dwyer, playing as an individual, is tied for 21st at 160.

Arizona's Erica Blasberg, the individual leader entering the second round, slipped to a 75 Tuesday and is alone in third place at 146. USC's Irene Cho is fourth at 147 after posting an even par round of 72 and Cal's Sofie Andersson is fifth at 148 after posting a second straight 74.

The highlight of the day came on the par 3 10th hole when Cal's Claire Drury scored a hole-in-one using a six-iron. Drury went on to birdie the next two holes and posted a 77. It was the first hole-in-one of her career.

The final round continues Wednesday.
