Bruins Tied for Eighth at Fall Preview

UCLA's top-ranked women's golf team was tied for eighth place after the first round of the Mercedes Benz of Bend Fall Preview at Sunriver, OR.

The Bruins, playing among the final pairings in the afternoon round, posted a team score of 295 (+11) and trail first place Duke by 12 shots. The Blue Devils, led by Brittany Lang's seven-under par 64, posted a score of 283 (-1) and lead second-place Washington by two shots. Georgia is third at 286 (+2), followed by New Mexico at 287 (+3) and Oklahoma State at 289 (+5).

Individually, freshman Amie Cochran led the Bruins with an even par score of 71 and she was tied for 13th. Sophomore Hannah Jun was tied for 33rd at three-over par 74 and All-Americans Susie Mathews and Charlotte Mayorkas were tied for 46th after posting 75s. Freshman Vanessa Brockett was tied for 88th at eight-over 79.

Trailing Lang in second place are Karin Sjodin of Oklahoma State and Kristen White of Ohio State. Both players posted four-under par scores of 67.

Second round action continues Tuesday.
