The No. 7 UCLA swim and dive team had a good showing on the first day of the Bulldog Invitational in Athens, GA as junior Katie Arnold and the relay teams led the Bruins in the pool. Arnold placed third in the 50 Free (23:15), while the 200 Free Relay (1:31.60) placed second and the 400 Medley Relay (3:41.43) finished third. All three finishes were NCAA "B" time qualifiers.

Also on Friday, junior Katie Nelson placed fifth in the 500 Free (4:47.20, "B" time) and in the 50 Free, two more Bruins swam in "A" final as freshman Anna Poteete placed fifth (23:39, "B" time) and junior Amy Thurman was eighth (23.57).

In 1-meter diving action, senior Paige Thompson placed sixth (249.95), while junior Sara Clark finished seventh (247.85).

In all, the Bruins had five NCAA "B" time qualifiers on Friday and will look to increase that total on Saturday and Sunday when they continue competing at the Bulldog Invitational.
