Bruins Tied for Seventh in Las Vegas

The third-ranked UCLA women's golf team was tied for seventh place after the first day of competition in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Anthem Country Club in Henderson, Nev.

The Bruins, competing with just four players, posted a nine-over par round of 297. Arizona State and Oklahoma State were leading the field at 292 (+4), followed by Pepperdine and USC at 293 (+5). Arizona was sixth at 295 (+7) and BYU was eighth at 296 (+8).

UCLA freshman Sydnee Michaels did not tee it up in the first round after suffering a wrist injury, forcing the Bruins to count all four remaining scores on Monday. Sophomore Ryann O'Toole continued her hot play, firing a first round score of 71 (-1) and was tied for fourth place. Senior Hannah Jun, the defending individual champion at this event, posted an even par score of 72 and was tied for 11th place. Sophomore Tiffany Joh was tied for 39th after posting a 75 (+3) and freshman Lalita Boonnoppornkul was tied for 69th after carding a 79 (+7).

Oklahoma State's Sarah Bradley held the first round lead after firing a 69 (-3) to open the tournament.
