Freshman Tess Schofield had a sensational performance on Platform Saturday at the NCAA Zone E Championships in Oklahoma City, OK as she finished third overall with a score of 488.60. With her performance this weekend, Schofield earned a spot as an alternate for the NCAA Swim and Dive Championships next week in Georgia.

Schofield was fifth overall after the prelims with a score of 227.20, but moved up to third in the finals.

"I'm so proud of Tess," said Dive Coach Tom Stebbins. "She was sensational today and it's just a shame she can't continue her season next week at Nationals."

Schofield, along with junior Sara Clark were named alternates, but freshman Marisa Samaniego did qualify for the NCAA Championships after her performance in Oklhoma.

"I'm so happy for Marisa because she has had a great first season here at UCLA," added Stebbins. "I just wish that Sara and Tess could join her in Georgia, but the future of the UCLA dive program is in great hands with the young talent we have coming back."

Freshman Brittany Hill, also competing on platform, placed ninth overall with a score of 429.90.
