The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team on Wednesday won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational hosted by Cal at the Guadalajara Country Club.
The Bruins posted a final round team score of 286 (-2) and finished with a 54-hole score of 864 (E), seven strokes better than USC, the second round leader. Duke finished third at 874 (+10), followed by Arizona State and Georgia in a tie for fourth at 882 (+18).
The victory was the Bruins' third of the season and first in 2006.
Individually for the Bruins, freshman Jane Park captured second place with a three-under par 54-hole score of 213. She posted an even par round of 72 on Wednesday. Freshman Tiffany Joh tied for third place at 214 (-2) after carding a 68 (-4) in the final round. Sophomore Amie Cochran tied for fifth at 215 (-1) after a final round of 70 (-2). Senior Susie Mathews tied for 17th at 222 (+6) and sophomore Brianna Loyear placed 58th at 255.
