The Bruin swimming and diving team fell to Stanford 166.5-125.5 on Friday afternoon in Palo Alto. Senior Madeleine Stanton led the team with wins in the 100 and 200 backstroke. The Bruins fell to 4-3 on the season and 2-3 in Pac-10 action.
Stanton won the 200 back in a time of 1:59.98 and tied for first in the 100 back, swimming 55.83.
In the 1000 free, sophomore Sam Vanden Berge led a 2-3-4 Bruin finish as she touched second in 10:03.63. Fellow sophomores Lauren Hall (10:05.40, lifetime-best) and Emily Bibb (10:12.84) rounded out the top Bruin finishers. Bibb was also third in the 500 free (4:56.55).
Sophomore Brittany Beauchan was second in the 100 breast (1:04.70), while Hall placed second in the 200 breast (2:18.39).
In the 50 free, senior Anna Poteete was second in a time of 23.43 and finished third in the 100 free in a time of 50.91. Freshman Yasi Jahanshahi was third in the 100 fly (2:01.86).
In diving action, senior Marisa Samaniego was second on one-meter with a score of 272.18 and placed third on three-meter (285.30).
The Bruins will face California on Saturday as they continue their NorCal roadtrip.
