
Bruins Seven-Under Par after Opening Round

The No.2 ranked UCLA women's golf team was in second place after the opening round of the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Bruins fired a seven-under par score of 277 and were four shots off the pace set by No.3 Arizona State (273, -11). Texas was third at 279 (-5) followed by Arizona at even par 284 and fifth place Washington at 285 (+1). Host Stanford was 12th at 301 (+17)
Freshman Tiffany Lua led the Bruins on Friday with a collegiate best score of 67 (-4). Lua made five birdies and a bogey during her round and played the inward nine in four-under par 32. She was tied for fourth, two shots off the lead set by Madison Pressel of Texas.
Sophomore All-American Stephanie Kono was tied for eighth place after carding a score of 69 (-2) and senior Sydnee Michaels was at one-under par 70, tied for 11th. Sophomore Brianna Do was tied for 18th at even par 71 and junior Glory Yang was tied for 24th after posting a 72 (+1).
Junior Lalita Boonnoppornkul was tied for 34th after posting a two-over par score of 73. That score was her collegiate best.
Second round action continues on Saturday.
