The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team overtook first place on Saturday at the NCAA Fall Preview, hosted by UNC-Wilmington at the Country Club of Landfall.

The Bruins posted a two-over par score of 290 for a 36-hole total of 583 and held an eight-shot lead over runner-up Wake Forest (591, +15), which posted a team score of 287 (-1), the best round of the day. No.2 Arizona State was third at 592 (+16), followed by Duke and Purdue at 593 (+17). First-round front-runner USC dropped to eighth place after carding a score of 309 (+21).

Individually for the Bruins, sophomore All-American Stephanie Kono posted a 71 (-1) in the second round and was tied for fifth place at 144 (E). Freshman Tiffany Lua was tied for 11th place at 146 (+2) after carding a 73 (+1). Junior Glory Yang and senior Sydnee Michaels also posted scores of 73 and each was tied for 16th place at three-over 147. Sophomore Brianna Do was tied for 26th at 148 (+4) following a 75 (+3).

Wake Forest sophomore Cheyenne Woods, whose uncle is Tiger Woods, was the 36-hole leader at 139 (-5), following a 69 (-3) on Saturday.
