Bruins Take First Round Lead at UCF Challenge

On Sunday the UCLA women's golf team took the first round lead at the UCF Challenge at RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.

The Bruins fired a first round score of 282 (-6) and held a two-stroke lead over No.1 Arizona State (284, -4). Oklahoma State and LSU were at two-under par 286 and Tennessee and Auburn were tied for fifth place at 290 (+2).

Sophomore Glory Yang was tied for second place with three other players at 68 (-4) following a round of six birdies and two bogeys. Maria Jose Uribe was tied for eighth at 70 (-2) after signing a card with three birdies and a bogey. Freshman Stephanie Kono was tied for 12th at one-under par 71. Kono had six birdies and five bogeys. Senior Maiya Tanaka signed for a 72 (+1) and was tied for 32nd and junior Sydnee Michaels was tied for 53rd at 75 (+3).

Senior Ryann O'Toole, playing as an individual, posted a 79 (+7) and was tied for 82nd.

Florida's Jessica Yadloczky held the first round lead after firing a 66 (-6).
