Golfers Climb into a Tie for Third

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was tied for third place after 36 holes at the PING/ASU Invitational Saturday at the Karsten Course in Tempe, Ariz.

The Bruins posted a score of 286 (-2) for a two-round total of 577 (+1). They trailed first-place Arizona State (565, -11) by 12 shots and runner-up USC (571, -1) by six. The Bruins were tied with Denver. Arizona was four shots behind in fifth place at 581 (+5).

Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Stephanie Kono was tied for fourth at 141 (-3) after carding a score of 70 (-2) on Saturday. Tied for 20th at 145 (+1) were senior Sydnee Michaels and sophomore Brianna Do. Michaels fired a 69 (-3) and Do shot a 74 (+2). Freshman Tiffany Lua was tied for 32nd at 147 (+3) following her round of 73 (+1) and junior Glory Yang was tied for 71st at 155 (+13).

Tulsa's Christina Merkle was the second round leader at 137 (-7).
