The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team took the opening round lead at the SEC/Pac-12 Challenge, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Holston Hills GC in Knoxville.

The Bruins played the final four holes in eight-under par Friday to take a three-shot lead into the clubhouse. UCLA's 281 (-7) score led runner-up Alabama (284, -4) and third place Tennessee (291, +3). Colorado and Washington were fourth at seven-over 295, followed by Auburn at 296 (+8).

Individually for the Bruins, senior All-America Stephanie Kono recorded her fourth consecutive round under 70, signing for a cool 69 (-3) and was in third place. Tied for fourth was freshman Erynne Lee at two-under par 70. Juniors Lee Lopez and Tiffany Lua carded scores of 71 (-1) and were tied for ninth place. Sophomore Ani Gulugian was tied for 34th at 74 (+2).

Tied for first place were Auburn's Stephanie Meadow and Vanderbilt's Lauren Stratton at four-under par 68.
