UCLA Maintains Lead After Round Two of Bruin Wave Invitational

The No. 3 ranked UCLA women's golf team will go into the final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational with a nine stroke lead over the competition. Junior Stephanie Kono also shot a one-under 71 to finish round two tied atop the leaderboard.

The Bruins scored a 294 (+6) for the second round which gave them an overall score of 575 (-1). They lead by 9 shots over second place Pepperdine, who recorded a 288 (E) to give them a total score of 584 (+8). Arizona is in 3rd with a score of 587 (+11) and San Diego State is in 4th at 597 (+21). No team posted a round under-par for the day.

Individually, Kono ended the day tied with Texas's Rebecca Lee-Bentham for first place with a score of 141 (-3). She shot a 71 (-1) for her round and leads by two strokes over fellow Bruins Lee Lopez and Glory Yang, who shot second round scores of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2) respectively to finish at -1. Liv Cheng of Pepperdine is also tied for second with Lopez and Yang. Freshman Ani Gulugian dropped into a tie for 26th with a second round 80 (+8), which gave her a total of 152 (+8). Sophomore Tiffany Lua finished tied for 15th with a 76 (+4) to give her an overall score of 149 (+5). Junior Brianna Do competed as an individual and shot 79 (+7), finishing tied for 34th at 154 (+10).
