Battling cold and rainy conditions all day, the No. 2/No. 3 (Golfweek/Golfstat) ranked UCLA women's golf team fell to third place at the Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn.

The Bruins recorded a second round score of 304 (+16) to give them an overall score of 597 (+21). They trail leaders Purdue, who shot a second round 292 (+4), by ten strokes. USC is currently in second place at 594 (+18) while UC Davis is in 4th at 601 (+25). Rounding out the top five is Arizona, who currently sits with a score of 605 (+29).

Individually, sophomore Tiffany Lua shot the low round of the day for the Bruins, shooting a second round 72 (E) to give her a tournament score of 149 (+5). This moved her up into a tie for 12th. Junior Stephanie Kono posted a second round 78 (+6) to also finish tied for 12th at 149 (+5). Sophomore Lee Lopez posted a 78 (+6) to give her a total of 151 (+7), good for a tie for 20th place, while freshman Ani Gulugian recorded a 79 (+7) to end up tied for 25th at 152 (+8). Senior Glory Yang equaled her first round score by shooting a second round 76 (+4) to finish tied for 25th at 152 (+8) as well. Finally, junior Brianna Do competed as an individual and recorded a 79 (+7), giving her an overall score of 155 (+11) and putting her in a tie for 46th.

Laura Gonzalez of Purdue took over the lead after the second round by shooting a second round 71 (-1) to give her a tournament score of 141 (-3).
