The fourth-ranked UCLA men's golf team was tied for sixth place at the U.S. Collegiate Championship Friday in Alpharetta, GA.

The Bruins posted a first round score of 297 (+9) and were tied with three other teams. UCLA trailed first place USC (289, +1) by eight shots, while Wake Forest and Georgia Tech were tied for second at 291 (+3). Oklahoma State was fourth at 293 (+5), followed by fifth-place Virginia at 295 (+7).

Individually for the Bruins, junior Anton Arboleda was the only player under par. He was tied for fourth place after posting a two-under par 70 in the opening round. Freshman Jonathan Garrick, who won the Cal Poly Invitational on Oct. 9, was tied for 22nd with a score of 74 (+2). Tied for 39th at 76 (+4) was sophomore Manav Shah, tied for 52nd was freshman Jake Knapp at 77 (+5) and tied for 71st was Matt Pinizzotto at 81 (+9).

Oklahoma State's Taylor Gooch was the leader in the club house after the first round, firing a 68 (-4).
