UCLA Trounces Duke to Win Stanford Classic at Cypress Point

The UCLA men's golf team defeated Duke Tuesday afternoon to win the Stanford Classic at Cypress Point Golf Club on the Monterey Peninsula.
Five of six UCLA players easily won their singles matches, capturing 18 of a possible 24 points.
Freshman Lorens Chan and senior Pontus Widegren defeated Duke's Adam Sumrail and Julian Suri, respectively, by scores of 4-0. Senior Pedro Fiegueiredo and sophomore Manav Shah won their matches by identical 3.5-1.5 scores. Sophomore Matt Pinizzotto beat Tim Gornik, 3-1. Freshman Jonathan Garrick lost 4-0 to Duke's Brinson Paolini.
Final score: UCLA 18, Duke 6.
