The No.1 ranked UCLA women's golf team assumed the 36-hole lead Saturday at the PING/ASU Invitational at ASU's Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ.

The Bruins posted the best score of the day -- a three-under par 281 -- and captured the second round lead at 565 (-3). They led second-place Texas and Texas A&M (575, +6) by nine shots and fourth-place UC Davis and host Arizona State (578, +10) by 13 strokes. The Sun Devils, who held the first round lead on Friday, slipped with a 14-over par score of 298 on Saturday.

Individually for the Bruins, junior Tiffany Lua remained as hot at the 90-degree temperatures, firing her second straight sub-70 score -- a sizzling, two-under par 69. She led the field at 137 (-5). Sophomore Ani Gulugian moved into a tie for fourth at 141 (-1) after posting a 69 (-2) in the second round. Junior Lee Lopez was tied for 11th at 143 (+1) following her round of even par 71 and freshman Erynne Lee was tied for 23rd at 145 (+3) after a round of 72 (+1). Senior Brianna Do fell into a tie for 57th at eight-over 150 after a round of 78 (+8) on Saturday.
