
Men's Golf Ties for Fifth at Preview

The fifth-ranked UCLA men's golf team tied for fifth place at the PING/GolfWeek Preview Tuesday at the Capital City Club in Alpharetta, GA.
In the final round, the Bruins posted a team score of 288 (+8) to finish nine strokes off the pace at 854 (+14). Georgia Tech and Cal tied for first at 845 (+5) as both teams fired four-under par rounds of 276 on Tuesday. Texas and UNLV tied for third place at 853 (+13). The Bruins were deadlocked with Washington, which carded a team score of 283 (+3) in the final round.
Individually, senior Pedro Figueiredo took the team's top honors, tying for 12th place at 212 (+2) following a final round score of 73 (+3). Sophomore Matt Pinizzotto rose seven spots on the leaderboard after carding a team-best 70 (E) for a 54-hole total of 214 (+4) to tie for 22nd place. Junior Anton Arboleda tied for 30th at 216 (+6) following a 74 (+4). Freshman Lorens Chan and sophomore Manav Shah tied for 43rd at 219 (+9). Chan's final round 71 (+1) vaulted him 10 spots on the leaderboard. Shah posted a 76 (+6).
San Diego State's Tom Berry won medalist honors after posting a two-over par 72 for a three-round total of 208 (-2). Berry won by two shots over eight players.
The Bruins' next event is Oct. 8-9 at the Pac-12 Preview at Bandon Dunes.
