
Bruins Finish Final Round of Golfweek Invitational

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team took ninth at the Golfweek Collegiate Invitational following the third and final round Wednesday at the Red Sky Golf Club in Vail, CO.
The Bruins finished the last day of the tournament with a 310 (+22), adding to a total team score of 914 (+50) after 54 holes. The Bruins finished eight strokes behind eighth-place East Tennessee State's mark of 906 (+42), and one stroke ahead of tenth place Florida State, at 915 (+51).
Top team honors belonged to preseason #24 Pepperdine, as the Waves went three under on the final day to finish four below par for the entire tournament with a 54 hole score of 860 (-4). UC Davis settled for second, playing even in the last round for a final score of 865 (+1). Preseason #19 Oklahoma finished third, 16 strokes behind the Aggies with a total of 881 (+17).
The Bruins were led individually by senior Lee Lopez, who carded a 73 (+1) in the final round to finish at six over for the entire tournament. The junior finished as the Bruins highest player on the individual leaderboard, tied for 20th. Lopez was followed by freshman Jacquie LeMarr, who turned in her best performance of the tourney with a 76 (+4) and improved her scores each day by an average of 3.5 strokes.
Junior Ani Gulugian ended her tournament with an 80 (+8), finishing the Invitational at ten over. Freshman Louise Ridderstrom carded an 81 (+9) to end at 12 over.
The Bruins will be back in action October 5th, as they head to Athens, GA, for the Fall Preview.
