The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was in seventh place Friday after the opening round of the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course.

The Bruins posted a team score of 288 (+4) and trailed first round leader USC by 12 shots. The Trojans fired an eight-under par score of 276 and led second place Washington (282, -2) by six strokes. Stanford and Oregon were tied for third place at one-under 283, followed by fifth-place Pepperdine at 285 (+1) and sixth-place Northwestern at 286 (+2).

Individually for the Bruins, freshman Alison Lee continued her outstanding play, posting a two-under par 69 and was tied for fourth place. Lee's three back-nine birdies put her under par for the round after she went out in one-over par 36. Sophomore Louise Ridderstrom was tied for 22nd at 72 (+1), and senior Ani Gulugian was tied for 35th after carding a 73 (+2). Junior Erynne Lee posted a score of 74 (+2) and was tied for 45th, while freshman Bronte Law had the “drop” score of 75 (+4) and was tied for 56th.

UCLA individuals Brittany Mai and Yvonne Zheng were 88th and 90th, respectively.
