The #2-ranked UCLA Men's Golf Team showed some toughness today at the Bandon Dunes Championship, as a younger group fought back in Oregon to improve their team score by a total of seven strokes. After scoring a team 300 (+12) on Friday, the underclassmen Bruins notched a total score of 293 (+5) on day two, the fifth-best score of the round and enough to keep them in 7th place atop the team leaderboard at 593 (+17).

This particular team of five, comprised of three sophomores and two freshmen, did an excellent job of building upon their first day at the Old Macdonald Course at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. The group finished a stroke ahead of #3 Washington, and will look to push further forward in the tourneys final round.

It was a day with no shortage of highlights for the young Bruins, as each player improved their score by at least one stroke and Reilly McMahon were a stroke behind, at74 (+2), as Hwang improved his score from the first round by five and McMahon improved his by one. Sophomore Preston Valder also showed marked improvement, as he improved his score by five to finish at 77 (+5).

The young Bruins are back in action on Sunday. Tee times for the final day can be found here.
